Dear Friend,

Trust you are doing fine.

You have crossed my mind so many times these few months and I thought to write to you.

Can you remember the things you’ve always spoken to me about?- Your dreams, aspirations, things you have always wanted to do. Do you still have the passion for them?

YES!!!

So why waste time? Why are you creating excuses? My darling friend, please stop overthinking. You remember when I told you I love to be in the entertainment industry, but growing up in an African (Nigerian) family, ko le werk (it won’t work), so I studied law (Law School in view) and decided to specialize in Entertainment Law and begin training in that aspect of law as well. You remember also when I told you that I wanted to be a blogger, well, it is safe to say that I am one now (Thanks to WordPress). To be honest, I overthought things, created a thousand and one excuses (I just wanted the perfect timing). But there is no such thing as perfect timing.

Really, you want it to be perfect?

Don’t tell me that it would not flourish the way you want it to be. You have not started, so how do you know? ”Ideas are commodities. Execution of them is not”- Michael Dell, Dell Chairman and CEO.

So my darling friend, Just as Mark Zuckerberg said, ‘If you just work on stuff that you like and you’re passionate about, you don’t have to have a master plan with how things will play out’.

I hope when you finish reading this note, you would trust your instincts, break rules, follow your dreams and live your life.

  1. I absolutely, think it’s fair to say we continuously get bitten by the perfectionist bug. We take cues from the fairy talish pictures in our imagination and often times get a reality check when we step out of it. However, the fulfillment comes with stepping out there. Nicely written, Ugo.

    As you’ve begun, may you never see a reason to relapse. More grease to your elbow. I’m sure there are plenty people out there who desire to see Ugo’s mind’s eye; I, for one.
